Finding the White Space

Beauty doesn’t fight for space,
it occupies it.

I took this photo while I was feeling a bit small in my own home. In the background, there were voices, dishes, and a rhythm I did not set. I felt like a guest, as if I were only here to be served temporarily. But then, I saw these roses. I noticed how they weren’t fighting the shadows in the corner, they were effortlessly standing in their own light. In this season of motherhood, my Environmental Wellness (my outer world) feels unpredictable. I can’t always control how things move around the house or how my children are being handled by others. But my Emotional Wellness (my inner world) is a different realm.

In this season of motherhood, my Environmental Wellness (my outer world) feels unpredictable. I can’t always control how things move around the house or how my children are being handled by others. But my Emotional Wellness (my inner world) is a different realm.

The relationship between the two is like a dance on eggshells. When the outer world is loud, I must make the inner world a soft place to land. I realized that if I can find just one “white space”, a single moment or an object that feels like me, then I can stop the “performance” and just be myself again.

I am not a guest in my soul.

Guide’s Tip
If you are in survival mode, stop trying to fix the whole house. Find one small thing that can anchor you. It could be a flower, a specific scent, or a song you love. Let that one thing be the border of your kingdom, reminding you that you don’t need to control the whole map to be the Queen of your own heart.

A Thoughtful Question
What is one small thing in your home right now that no one else can claim but you?
